Know your HIPAA compliance conduit exception.
If you fax healthcare documents on a regular basis using a cloud fax or hosted VoIP provider and they won’t sign a Business Associate Agreement (BAA), then you need to understand the risks. In January 2013, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) announced the HIPAA Omnibus Final Rule to strengthen the privacy and security protections for health information.
